Playback and export
Review recorded footage, sync multiple cameras, and export evidence.
Recorded footage is reviewed on the Playback page (under Cameras in the navigation).
Reviewing one camera
Playback is single-camera-first:
- Select the camera.
- Pick the date.
- The day timeline appears — a bar across the whole day showing exactly when footage exists. Gaps are visible at a glance.
- Click anywhere on the timeline to jump there; the video plays from that moment.
The timeline is the fastest way to answer "what do we have from last night?" — recorded periods are drawn on it, so you scrub straight to the interesting part instead of hunting through files.
Playback speed and frame-step
- Speed: play from 0.5× up to 8×. High speeds are ideal for skimming hours of footage; 0.5× for catching fast details.
- Frame-step: advance a single frame at a time — the tool for pinpointing the exact moment of an incident (a hand touching a door, a plate entering frame).
Synchronized multi-camera playback
To watch several cameras side-by-side at the same wall-clock time, switch on the sync grid mode on the Playback page. Pick the cameras; they play back together, locked to a shared clock — pause, seek, and speed changes apply to all of them at once.
Use this to follow a person or vehicle across camera coverage: what camera 3 saw at 02:14:05 is on screen next to what camera 7 saw at 02:14:05.
Exporting clips
To pull a piece of footage out of the system:
- In playback, mark the time range you need on the camera's timeline.
- Start the export. The box cuts the clip in the background — you can keep working.
- When ready, download the clip file from the browser.
Exports are standard MP4 video playable anywhere.
Evidence bundles
For an incident spanning multiple cameras and time ranges, export an evidence bundle: a single downloadable archive containing the selected clips. Bundles are also produced from event search results — see Alarms and events.
Exports and bundles are kept on the box temporarily and cleaned up automatically after their retention window. Download them promptly and store evidence in your case-management system — the export area is a hand-off point, not an archive.
Jumping to footage from detections
If AI analytics are enabled, the Detections page's smart search results deep-link straight into playback at the matching recording — search "person, camera 4, last night", click a result, and you are looking at the clip. See AI analytics.
